Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit arrived in New Delhi on Thursday for the 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and other related meetings. External Affairs Ministry said in a social media post that the high-level engagements over the next two days reflect the shared commitment for a stronger India-Arab partnership across sectors. Earlier today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, arrived in the national capital to participate in the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. External Affairs Ministry said the visit reaffirms India’s partnership with the people of Palestine and the Arab world.
Foreign Minister of Comoros, Mbae Mohamed and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sudan, Mohieldin Salim Ahmed Ibrahim have also arrived. The Ministry said their visit will further strengthen the cordial relations between India and their countries.
Our correspondent reports that India will host the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM) on 31st of this month. The meeting will be co-chaired by India and the UAE. Foreign Ministers of other Arab League Member States and Arab League Secretary General will participate in the Meeting. This is the first India-Arab FMM to be hosted by India in New Delhi. It will see participation by all 22 Arab countries by Foreign Ministers, other Ministers, Ministers of State and other Senior Officials and Arab League.
