Andhra Pradesh Police Arrest Three for Promoting Extremist Ideology Online

In Andhra Pradesh, the NTR district police have arrested three individuals for allegedly promoting extremist ideology and engaging in unlawful activities through online platforms, according to In-charge Police Commissioner Sarva Shrestha Tripathi.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Rahmatullah Sharif, Mohammed Danish, and Mirza Sahel. They were apprehended following a targeted investigation based on specific intelligence inputs. Cases have been registered against them at the Two Town Police Station in Vijayawada under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio was operating secret online groups and disseminating extremist content aimed at influencing and recruiting youth. Police said they were identifying vulnerable individuals and attempting to draw them into their network. The accused are also suspected of having been in contact with certain individuals abroad and allegedly engaging in activities that could pose a threat to national security.

Authorities found evidence suggesting that the group circulated audio messages and social media posts intended to incite hatred and disrespect national symbols.

Police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices from the accused, which have been sent for forensic examination. The three were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

Further investigation is underway to identify other possible links in the network. The police have also advised parents to remain vigilant about their children’s online activities and urged the public to exercise caution regarding digital content and interactions.
