In Andhra Pradesh, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has introduced several measures to assist passengers during the summer season, as rising temperatures and increased passenger rush are being witnessed at railway stations.
Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra has directed officials and staff to ensure safe and comfortable travel for passengers during the summer months. The division has arranged adequate supplies of packaged drinking water and potable water at all major stations. Water booths are being regularly monitored to ensure an uninterrupted supply.
Free drinking water facilities are also being provided, especially for passengers travelling in general coaches. NGOs are supporting the Railways by voluntarily distributing water at stations. Railway authorities are ensuring a continuous water supply in station toilets and waiting halls, along with regular announcements of train arrivals and departures for passenger convenience.
To manage heavy crowds, proper queue systems and designated holding areas have been set up. Special attention is being given to passenger movement on foot overbridges and concourse areas to ensure safety and smooth flow.
