Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu marked the Ugadi festival by signing a key file under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to provide financial assistance to the poor. On the first day of the Telugu New Year, he approved the release of 55.63 crore rupees to benefit 6,787 individuals. Officials said that in the 21 months since the government assumed office, assistance worth 1,241 crore rupees has been extended under various categories, including financial and medical aid, benefiting over 1.36 lakh people.
Later, the Chief Minister participated in the official Ugadi celebrations organised by the state government at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada. He inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of ministers, legislators, and other dignitaries. Traditional rituals such as Ugadi Pachadi and Panchanga Sravanam were conducted as part of the celebrations. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended Ugadi greetings to the people of the state and emphasised the cultural and traditional significance of the festival.
He said Ugadi reflects the rich heritage of Telugu people and symbolises new beginnings. Referring to Ugadi Pachadi, he explained that its mix of tastes represents the varied experiences of life, including happiness and hardship. Mr. Naidu highlighted that Telugu festivals reflect a deep connection with nature and promote a healthy way of life.
He noted that traditions such as worshipping land, water and natural elements underline the importance of environmental balance. He also said that every festival, from Sankranti onwards, carries unique significance and values. The Chief Minister added that the state government is committed to preserving and promoting Telugu culture and traditions, and extended his wishes for prosperity and well-being to all citizens in the new year.
