In Andhra Pradesh, the 287th birth anniversary of revered tribal saint Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj is being celebrated across the state with devotion today. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in celebrations at the CM’s camp office in Amaravati yesterday and paid floral tributes at the Sant’s portrait. He said the state government is committed to the welfare and development of tribal communities, inspired by Sant Sevalal Maharaj’s ideals.
Describing him as a revered spiritual leader of the Banjara community, the Chief Minister said, Sevalal Maharaj advocated women’s equality centuries ago and dedicated his life to the welfare of forest dwellers and nomadic tribes. He said, Sevalal’s teachings of service, compassion, respect for nature, and righteous living continue to inspire people. He highlighted Sevalal’s compassion, recalling that the saint strongly opposed animal sacrifice.
The Chief Minister announced that 50 lakh rupees have been allocated to celebrate Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti as a state festival. At Seva Ghad in Anantapur district, J. Hussain Nayak, Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, participated in cultural and religious programmes and paid tributes to Sevalal Maharaj. He urged Banjara youth to pursue higher education while preserving their traditions and culture.
