Amit Shah Launches Golap Borbora’s Birth Centenary Celebrations in Guwahati

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today hailed Golap Borbora as a visionary socialist leader, freedom fighter and Chief Minister of Assam, while launching his year-long birth centenary celebrations in Guwahati. Describing Borbora as Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister who worked for the welfare of the masses, Mr. Shah lauded his brief yet impactful tenure that saw the establishment of several key institutions. A book on Borbora’s life was also unveiled at the event.

Earlier in the day, the Home Minister inaugurated the new Brahmaputra wing of the Raj Bhavan and virtually launched the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory in Golaghat, aimed at enhancing cyber security across the Northeast. He also laid foundation stones for multiple Armed Forces development projects and addressed a Panchayat Sanmilan attended by around 20,000 representatives from the BJP and other NDA allies.

Highlighting the Centre’s focus on a forensic-based justice system, Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of cyber security in safeguarding citizens’ earnings and national interests. He also noted that three new laws have replaced colonial-era codes to modernize and humanize India’s criminal justice system.
