Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah highlights 70% growth in India’s dairy sector

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has said that the country’s dairy sector has witnessed tremendous growth of 70 percent in the last 11 years. He said it is the fastest growing sector in the world. The Minister today inaugurated Sabar Dairy’s newly constructed plant at Rohtak IMT. 
Mr. Shah said, Sabar Dairy has completed the construction of the largest plant in the entire country with an investment of 325 crore rupees. He said, this will prove beneficial for the farmers who produce milk and it will fulfill the needs of the entire NCR region. He said that milk procurement is 660 lakh litre per day and the government is aimed to increase milk procurement per day to one thousand lakh metric tonnes by 2028-29. 
Mr. Shah emphasized the need to strengthen cooperatives saying that the opening of this plant will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to approximately one thousand people.
