In Jammu and Kashmir, more than 3.42 lakh Yatris had ‘Darshan’ so far, while a fresh batch of 35 hundred pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Valley today from Jammu towards the two base camps of Shri Amarnath in Kashmir. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that more than 3.42 Yatris have performed the ongoing Amarnath Yatra during the last 21 days as the huge rush of pilgrims continues unabated. The officially expected figure of 3.50 lakh Yatris performing the Yatra this year is likely to cross today only, while there are still 17 days for its conclusion. The Yatra has been ongoing peacefully and smoothly, and this has encouraged devotees to come in record numbers. The fresh batch of Yatris left the base camp in a cavalcade of 140 vehicles early this morning. The batch included 2704 Men, 675 Women, 12 Children, 81 Sadhus & 28 sadhvis. Of these, 832 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp at 3:25 AM and 2668 for Pahalgam base camp at 4:01 AM, from where they will proceed for their further journey to the holy cave. The Bhumi Pujan of ‘Chhari Mubarak’ of Lord Shiva was performed at Pahalgam on July 10th. The Chhari Mubarak was then taken back to its seat at the Dashnami Akhara building. It will start its final journey towards the cave shrine from Dashnami Akhara temple in Srinagar on August 4th and reach the holy cave shrine on August 9th, marking the official conclusion of the Yatra. The Yatra started on July 3rd and will end after 38 days on August 9th, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
