Akashvani Vijayawada yesterday celebrated the 90th anniversary of Akashvani with a grand cultural programme, ‘Swara Sandhya’, at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public and cultural enthusiasts.
Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Telugu and Sanskrit Academy, Sarath Chandra, attended the programme as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he praised Akashvani for its lasting contribution to authentic news broadcasting and for preserving language, literature, music, and culture over the decades.
Regional Channel Manager of Akashvani Vijayawada, M. Someswara Rao, said the organisation has been serving society for nearly nine decades through informative, educational, agricultural, literary, musical, and cultural programmes. He said Akashvani has earned the trust of people by becoming a companion to farmers, a platform for artists, and a guide for youth across generations. He added that the organisation is continuously modernising its broadcasting methods and expanding its reach among younger audiences through digital and social media platforms.
The evening featured a series of cultural performances, including classical music renditions, folk presentations, and traditional dance performances. The Sarvepalli Sisters presented soulful musical performances, while artistes performed colourful Garaga dances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh.
Artists, students, and cultural enthusiasts from different parts of the city participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
