Akashvaani presents Carnatic and Hindustani versions of national song Vande Mataram

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Prasar Bharati Gaurav Dwivedi today launched two versions of the national song Vande Mataram at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi. These are the first two renditions from the proposed set of 25 musical versions of the song to be presented by Akashvani. The versions were digitally released as part of the 150th anniversary commemoration of Vande Mataram. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dwivedi said that Vande Mataram is not just a song of the freedom movement but a lasting symbol of national unity and integrity. He highlighted that these different versions of the song, presented in various music styles, will have significant impact on the citizens of the country and will strengthen cultural diversity of the nation. 
Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, the CEO said that the countrymen adopted Vande Mataram not only as a song but also a slogan and salutation. He said that this commemoration is an opportunity for the people to rededicate themselves to the nation by listening and also understanding the various aspects of this song.
 
  Talking to Akashvani News, composer of the two versions, Ustad Johar Ali said that one version of the song is styled in a Carnatic flavour, while the other is rendered in the Hindustani style.
