The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has undertaken a key initiative to enhance aviation safety and navigation standards in the country. In a social media post, the AAI said that its Flight Inspection Team successfully carried out the flight calibration of critical air navigation systems, including the Instrument Landing System (ILS), Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range (DVOR), and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi. The Authority said that these systems are essential for ensuring accurate guidance to aircraft during landing and approach, particularly under low visibility conditions.
The calibration exercise was conducted in-house by specially trained experts using advanced onboard calibration equipment, along with ground-based systems. The AAI said that it reflects its standards of precision, reliability, and operational safety in the aviation sector.
