Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today inaugurated the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chouhan said that the government is strengthening fertiliser access, curbing fake pesticide sales and will soon introduce Farmer ID to streamline loans to farmers.
He underlined that nearly one lakh 92 thousand crore rupees have been disbursed to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Seeking coordinated efforts between the Centre and states, Mr Chouhan said that Mela should become a Maha Kumbh of agriculture, enabling a large number of farmers to showcase their products along with agriculture-orientated innovation. The two-day event will continue till Friday.
