In the opening match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, Afghanistan registered a massive 94-run victory over Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi last night.
Opting to bat first, Afghanistan posted 188 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a 73-run knock by Sediqullah Atal and a 20-ball half-century by Azmatullah Omarzai. It is now the fastest T20I fifty by any Afghanistan player.
In reply, Hong Kong managed only 94 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs, with Babar Hayat top-scoring with 39 runs.
This was the Group B opener, which also includes Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The top two teams from the group will advance to the Super Four stage.
Team India are set to begin their campaign today against hosts UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a Group A encounter.
