Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, modern warfare now goes beyond borders, with national security covering economic, digital, energy and food sectors. Addressing the Raising Day and Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Sainik School Ghorakhal in Uttarakhand via video conferencing today, Mr Singh stressed the need for a strong military, backed by alert and prepared citizens, noting that conflicts today also involve cyber, space and information warfare.

 

The Defence Minister highlighted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, government is leaving no stone unturned to equip the defence forces with niche weapons and technologies and promote discipline among youth. He said 100 new Sainik Schools will be set up under the PPP model, and NCC vacancies will also be increased.

 

The Defence Minister termed the admission of girls into Sainik Schools as a historic step. He said these girls will become the torchbearers of Nari Shakti and scale new heights across various sectors.
