A CBI court in Chandigarh has sent Punjab Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ropar Range, Harcharan Singh Bhullar to a 14-day judicial custody today following his arrest in a high-profile corruption case.
The IPS Officer along with a middleman named Kirshanu Sharda, was arrested yesterday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 8 lakh rupees from a scrap dealer to forever settle an old police case against him.
Following his arrest, the CBI raided Bhullar’s Chandigarh residence and had seized about 5 crore rupees in cash, 1.5 kg of precious jewellery, documents related to immovable properties, several firearms with ammunition and other luxury items.
