The 98th Academy Awards concluded at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, bringing together some of the biggest names in the film industry to celebrate the year’s best achievements in cinema.
The ceremony, hosted again by Conan O’Brien, featured a star-studded lineup of presenters, including Priyanka Chopra, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Anne Hathaway, and Javier Bardem. Security at the venue has been heightened amid rising tensions in West Asia.
The event saw several major wins. Best Picture was awarded to One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which had received 13 nominations and won six awards in total. Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Director for the same film. Best Actor went to Michael B. Jordan for Sinners. Best Actress was awarded to Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet.
In other key categories, Sinners won Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, while One Battle After Another secured Best Editing. The Best Sound award went to F1, Best Production Design to Frankenstein, and Best Visual Effects to Avatar: Fire and Ash. The Best Original Song Oscar was awarded to “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters.
The documentary categories saw Mr Nobody Against Putin winning Best Documentary Feature, while All The Empty Rooms took home Best Documentary Short Film. The Best International Feature Film went to the Norwegian film Sentimental Value, marking the first time a film from Norway has won in this category.
The ceremony also paid tribute to legendary film figures who passed away over the past year, including Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, and Rob Reiner. Overall, the night highlighted major victories for Sinners, One Battle After Another, and Frankenstein, making it a memorable Oscars ceremony filled with performances, tributes, and cinematic achievements.
