To mark the completion of 90 years of All India Radio, a walkathon was organised today by the Akashvani in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Employees of Akashvani, retired officials, news readers, listeners and prominent citizens of the city participated in the event.

The walkathon began at around seven this morning from the Akashvani building at Civil Lines and concluded at the AIR premises after passing through various routes of the city. The event was organised to commemorate the glorious journey of 90 years of All India Radio.

Founded on the 8th of June, 1936, with the motto “Bahujan Hitaya, Bahujan Sukhaya”, All India Radio remains the country’s most trusted broadcasting medium. It broadcasts news bulletins in various languages, besides music, entertainment, motivational and public-utility programmes.
