In Uttar Pradesh, at least nine people were killed in a road accident in Lakhimpur Kheri district this morning. A speeding truck collided head-on with a Magic vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Ten people, including two women, were travelling in the Magic vehicle. The accident took place near Adalispur village on the Pilibhit-Basti highway, 40 km from the district headquarters.

The collision was so severe that the Magic vehicle was dragged nearly 10 feet before stopping. People sitting on the front and back seats suffered severe head injuries. Several passengers got trapped between the seats, while two people were thrown out onto the road. Police reached the spot and shifted one injured person to a nearby hospital. The vehicle was travelling from Lakhimpur towards Sisaiya when a truck coming from Bahraich crashed into it from the front. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident.
