The nominations for the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) 2026 have been announced today. Paul Thomas Anderson’s action thriller ‘One Battle After Another’ leads the race with 14 nominations, including acting nods for five of its cast. Ryan Coogler’s vampire epic ‘Sinners’ secured 13 nominations, while Chloé Zhao’s Shakespearean family tragedy ‘Hamnet’ and Josh Safdie’s ‘Marty Supreme’ have 11 each. The best film nominees are One Battle After Another, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, Sinners and Norwegian family drama ‘Sentimental Value’.
Best leading actor contenders are Robert Aramayo for ‘I Swear,’ Timothée Chalamet for ‘Marty Supreme,’ Leonardo DiCaprio for ‘One Battle After Another,’ and Michael B. Jordan for ‘Sinners. The leading actress race pits favourite Jessie Buckley for ‘Hamnet’, Kate Hudson for ‘Song Sung Blue’ and Chase Infiniti for “One Battle After Another.
‘One Battle’ actors Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn are all nominated for supporting performances. The Manipuri-language film Boong, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, was nominated in the Best Children’s and Family Film category this year. ‘Boong’ is a coming-of-age story about a young boy from Manipur who believes the greatest gift for his mother would be bringing his father home. The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will take place on the 22nd of next month at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
