On the opening day of the filing of the nominations for West Bengal’s assembly elections, a total of 78 candidates have filed their papers across the state. Three nominations were submitted in East Medinipur’s Nandakumar, Mahishadal, and Nandigram, each. West Medinipur’s Kharagpur constituency also witnessed the submission of three nominations.
Among the prominent candidates, opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has filed his nomination from the Nandigram constituency of Purba Medinipur district. He was accompanied by the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and former state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, along with other senior party leaders. After filing his nomination, Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
