The Department of Financial Services (DFS) of the Central Government has decided to cover all 6,794 Gram Panchayats in Odisha under the ongoing nationwide campaign for financial inclusion. Speaking to media persons at Bhubaneswar, Chief General Manager of UCO Bank and Convenor of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) for Odisha, Shri Goutam Patra, said all Public Sector Banks, Private Banks, Regional Rural Banks, and 30 Lead District Managers are overseeing the implementation of this campaign in the state. He also acknowledged the vital role of the media in disseminating information about these initiatives to the public. He highlighted that the campaign aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, aimed at bringing all sections of society into the economic mainstream.
The Department of Financial Services had launched the 3-month-long campaign on 1st of July and will continue till 30th of September this year. It will cover the grassroots level across all Gram Panchayats in the country. The initiative also aims to provide equitable access to formal financial services, particularly in underserved rural and remote areas. The drive is focused on opening bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, enrolling individuals in Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Surakshya Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana schemes, re-verifying dormant accounts, updating nominations, and educating citizens about digital fraud and grievance redressal systems.
