Five labourers lost their lives after being buried under a sand dump while they were sleeping near a tin shed in the Jalna district of Maharashtra. The tragic incident occurred today early morning in Pasodi village at Jafrabad taluka when a sand-laden tipper truck, involved in illegal sand transportation, hurriedly unloaded the sand without noticing the sleeping workers.
The labourers had come to Pasodi village for the construction of a bridge on the main road and were staying in a temporary tin shed near the site. The heavy pile of sand buried them, leading to death.
A young girl was miraculously rescued alive from the sand by local villagers. The police, along with local residents, used JCB machines to remove the sand and recover the bodies. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jalna Anant Kulkarni said legal action will be taken against those responsible.
