The 4th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Iceland were held yesterday in Reykjavik. During the consultation, both sides reviewed the status of cooperation in all fields, including political, trade and investment; implementation of India-EFTA-TEPA; geothermal energy; fisheries; capacity building; culture; and people-to-people ties. They also acknowledged the increase in bilateral trade in 2025 and investment by Icelandic companies in India. Detailed discussions were held on the future direction of cooperation, including in the multilateral fora, particularly the UN. The FOC also provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the neighbourhoods of India and Iceland. The sides underscored the importance of multilateral engagements and continued dialogue on global challenges. Both sides agreed to hold the next round of Foreign Office Consultations at a mutually convenient date in New Delhi.
