The government has said that 440 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are functional across the country to provide quality education to the tribal children. Replying to supplementraies during Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said the government has sanctioned 728 Eklavya Model Residential Schools. He said the government has started several welfare programmes for the tribal people.

Mr. Oram informed that the government has launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan with a total outlay of over 80 thousand crore rupees to develop 63 thousand tribal villages. He said the PM JANMAN scheme was also launched to uplift the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
