The 39th edition of Surajkund International Crafts Mela at Faridabad, Haryana, is running with enthusiasm and great fervour. This year, the theme is Vocal to Global, with Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as the theme states, displaying their respective culture. Meanwhile, Egypt is participating as a partner nation to add a global flavour to the Mela. Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Managing Director of Haryana Tourism Corporation Limited, Parth Gupta, today said that the ongoing Surajkund Mela focuses on the vision of Atma Nirbharta – self-reliance of the artists.
Mr Gupta noted that the Mela provides an international platform to artists across India and abroad, showcasing rich cultural heritage from different regions. He added that some artists are generational, following the family legacy to set up their stalls in the Mela. The managing director further said, visitors can have a vibrant experience of this Mela through cuisine, cultural programs and handicrafts of that particular state. Speaking about the management, Mr Gupta said, around 100 CCTV cameras are being installed in the Mela premises to ensure safety along with proper cleanliness, wheelchairs and ambulance service.
Visitors can experience a variety of art and craft pieces from national and international artisans, folk performances and culinary delights from 20 states across the country participating in the Mela.
