28th Divya Kala Mela Concludes at Kartavya Path in New Delhi

The 28th edition of Divya Kala Mela concluded with a colourful closing ceremony at Kartavya Path in New Delhi yesterday. The nine-day fair showcased the creativity, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Divyangjan from across the country. The Divya Kala Mela, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, witnessed over 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from 20 States.

The closing ceremony featured cultural performances by Divyang artists, highlighting music, dance and folk traditions, and drawing appreciation from visitors. The mela provided a platform for Persons with Disabilities to display and sell handicrafts, home décor, textiles and other creative products, promoting self-reliance and inclusive growth.

Talking to Akashvani News, Shalini, who participated in the Divya Kala Mela along with her daughter Devanshee, expressed her gratitude to the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation for the support. She said the assistance enabled her to set up a stall at the mela, where she showcased and sold handmade and handcrafted wall art.

Since its launch in December 2022, Divya Kala Mela has played an important role in promoting entrepreneurship and mainstream participation of Divyangjan. Under the Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons, over 32 lakh Persons with Disabilities have received assistive devices since 2014, while several beneficiaries have also gained livelihood support and employment through associated initiatives.
