The 27th edition of Saras Aajeevika Mela will be held in New Delhi from tomorrow. The fair will provide a vital marketing platform for rural women to showcase and sell their products. More than 400 rural women belonging to Self Help Groups from all States and Union Territories of the country will participate in the fair.
The theme of this year of fair is Making of Lakhpati Didis- Empowering rural women to become successful entrepreneurs and champions of Vocal for Local. This will be the first fair fully led by Lakhpati Didis, showcasing their handicrafts, handlooms, and food products. The fair will continue till the 22nd of this month.
Addressing the press conference, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Swati Sharma, said that the Saras fair is a medium to reconnect with roots. She mentioned that under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission, around 10 crores women are connected with 90 lakhs Self Help Groups.
