26 Naxalites surrender in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh

 
In Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, 26 Naxalites surrendered today, including 13 who were carrying a collective bounty of 65 lakh rupees. According to the Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, the cadres, including seven women, turned themselves in before senior police and CRPF officials, under the Poona Margem rehabilitation initiative. Chavan added they were active in the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion, South Bastar division, Maad division and Andhra Odisha Border division of Maoists and were involved in several incidents of violence in Abujhmad, Sukma in Chhattisgarh and bordering areas of Odisha. The cadres said they were also impressed by the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government. All the surrendered Naxalites were provided an assistance of Rs 50,000 each and will be further rehabilitated as per the government’s policy.
