The 24th Pune International Film Festival, popularly known as PIFF, concluded yesterday. Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Co-Managing Director of the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation, Prashant Sajnicker, said that PIFF has made a significant contribution to Maharashtra’s cultural landscape over the past 24 years and assured continued support from the state government for the festival.
Veteran actor Biswajit Chatterjee, senior actresses Farida Jalal and Asha Kale were honoured with the PIFF Distinguished Award, while renowned violinist and composer Amar Haladipur was conferred the S. D. Burman International Music Award.
The Best International Film award was presented to “The Elysian Field”, while “Bapya” won the Best International Marathi Film award.
Santosh Dawkhare received the Best Director award for “Gondhal”, while Girish Kulkarni and Rajshri Deshpande were honoured with the Best Acting awards for their performances in “Bapya”.
