Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, has approved 20 per cent horizontal reservation to ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment to the post of Jail Warder (Group C) in the Prisons Department of Chandigarh. The approval has been given in pursuance with a letter by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. However, the recruitment will be done in accordance with the applicable rules.

Further, 20 per cent horizontal reservation will also be provided against eligible posts in the Chandigarh Fire Services and Forest department as well. Similar approval was given by Mr Kataria earlier also to grant 20 per cent horizontal reservation to ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment to the post of Constable (Executive and Wireless) in the Chandigarh Police, including posts in the IRB.
