In Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, sixteen Maoists surrendered before the police today. Among them are seven women cadres. The surrendered Maoists carried a total reward of around thirty-eight lakh rupees on their heads. Under the state government’s rehabilitation policy, each of them was given a cheque of fifty thousand rupees. In the Bastar police range of Chhattisgarh, more than eighteen hundred Maoists have surrendered over the past twenty months.
