Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today chaired the 11th Brainstorming Session at the Indian Institute of Petroleum Management in Gurugram. In a social media post, Mr Puri said that the session focused on strengthening research and development, innovation and the startup ecosystem in India’s oil and gas sector. He added that the discussions were also held on further reforms in the domestic exploration and production sector, particularly deepwater drilling, to enhance offshore oil and gas exploration. The meeting also reviewed contingency planning and ways to further diversify India’s energy imports to reduce risks arising from global disruptions. Mr Puri further said the government aims to ensure secure, affordable, sustainable and self-reliant energy powered by Indian innovation and capability.
