110 New Road Projects Sanctioned in Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Under PMGSY-4

In a major infrastructure push, the Union Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 110 new road works in the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-4), Batch-1 (2025-26). Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the projects, with an estimated cost of  2 thousand crore rupees, will provide all-weather road connectivity to 178 habitations across the region. Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, approved the proposals and conveyed the decision through a communication addressed to Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh. Dr. Singh expressed gratitude to the Centre, noting that the projects would significantly improve accessibility and ease of travel for rural populations. He said that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, the long-neglected parliamentary constituency had received priority in development schemes. “Udhampur district has consistently ranked among the top three districts in the country in terms of PMGSY road projects,” Dr. Singh said, adding that more works are expected to follow. The newly approved projects are expected to boost not only rural connectivity but also economic activity, healthcare access, and educational opportunities across the constituency’s remote areas
