In the ICC World Test Championship Final, South Africa were 43 for 4 against Australia at stumps on Day 1 at Lord’s in London. Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma and David Bedingham will carry on the innings on Day 2 after a power-packed bowling action on the opening day.
After being invited to bat first, the defending champions Australia were bundled out on 212 after bowling attack of Proteas managed to restrict their batting order. For Aussies, Beau Webster scored the highest 72 runs. Earlier, Steven Smith’s sensible innings of 66 runs gave strength to Australia’s innings after early wickets in the first session. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada picked up the highest 5 wickets, followed by Marco Jansen, who bagged 3 wickets. Moreover, Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram each bagged 1 wicket. Then came the Proteas, who faced an early breakthrough as Mitchell Starc picked 2 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins each picked up 1 wicket, destroying the top order. A total of 14 wickets fell on an eventful day at Lord’s.
