Winter session of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly begins today at Tapovan

 
The winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin today at Tapovan in Dharamshala. The session, which will continue till December 5, will comprise a total of 8 sittings. So far, 744 questions have been received for the session, covering issues such as central assistance for disaster management, panchayat elections, merger of schools, construction of roads and bridges, and filling of vacant posts in various departments.
 
 
On the first day of the session, a condolence motion will be moved at 11 a.m. The session is expected to be stormy, as the Opposition plans to corner the government on issues like delay in panchayat elections, disaster management in the state, increasing drug abuse among youth, poor transport services and road conditions, and overall law and order.
 
 
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has convened an all-party meeting this morning ahead of the session and has urged both the ruling and Opposition members to extend constructive cooperation for its smooth conduct. Tight security arrangements have been made for the Assembly session, Dharamshala has been divided into 10 sectors, and 1,100 police personnel have been deployed. In addition, drone and CCTV surveillance will be carried out in and around the Assembly premises.
