The White House has confirmed that Nick Stewart has been appointed as an adviser to the diplomatic team working to end the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a statement, spokesperson Olivia Wales described Stewart as an experienced policy expert who will support the delegation led by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Stewart has previously worked on Iran-related issues at the State Department during the first Trump administration.
US officials say his appointment was facilitated by Jared Kushner. Before this role, Stewart was linked to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, known for advocating a tougher stance on Iran. The development comes as Iran has submitted a counter-proposal to a US-backed nine-point peace plan.
