The conflict in West Asia has entered its 7th day today, with the latest reports of a new wave of strikes from Iran and joint US-Israeli forces. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) identified several missiles from Iran. Bahrain also said that Iran targeted a hotel and 2 residential buildings in the capital city of Manama, with no loss of life recorded. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said that 4 people were arrested for making a video in support of Iran and expressing sympathy with it.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) also said that its air defences dealt with several incoming missile and drone threats from Iran. Sounds were heard in scattered areas of the country after the air defence systems intercepted ballistic missiles and fighter jets intercepted drones and loitering munitions. UAE’S air defence systems detected seven ballistic missiles yesterday, intercepting and destroying six of them, while one ballistic missile fell inside the country. It also detected 131 drones, intercepting 125 of them, while six fell within the UAE territory.
On the other hand, Israel killed Hezbollah commander Zaid Ali Jumaa in Beirut. Jumaa had served as Hezbollah’s head of artillery in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defence Forces said that he was responsible for launching thousands of rockets, missiles and UAVs from Lebanon toward Israel. Earlier, the Israeli Navy also struck and eliminated Hamas commander Wasim Attallah Ali in the area of Tripoli. Israel said that he was responsible for training and exercises for the organisation’s military wing in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump called upon the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to lay down their arms. Mr Trump said that now is the time to stand up for the Iranian people and help take back their country.
US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, also warned Tehran by saying that Iran is hoping that US cannot sustain this, which is a really bad miscalculation for the IRGC.
US Central Command’s Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said that America’s bomber force struck nearly 200 targets deep inside of Iran in just the last 72 hours.
In reply, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran negotiated twice with the US Administration, but both the times, Iran was attacked in middle of talks. In a social media post, he said that Iran is long prepared for this war, Iran’s powerful Armed Forces are ensuring that it becomes a quagmire for whomever chooses to pursue it.
