WCD Minister Savitri Thakur reaffirms India’s commitment to inclusive and rights-based social development at CSocD64

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur reaffirmed India’s commitment to inclusive and rights-based social development at the 64th Session of the Commission for Social Development(CSocD64) at UN Headquarters in New York. Delivering India’s national statement at the session, she said that social justice and social protection in the country are rooted in constitutional guarantees and aligned with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Ms Thakur highlighted the guiding principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, reflecting a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to ensure that no one is left behind. She highlighted major national initiatives showing scale and inclusion, citing equal participation of girls and boys in education, expanded access to water, clean cooking and sanitation, and financial inclusion with women as key beneficiaries. The session witnessed participation from over one hundred UN member states and was attended by senior United Nations leadership and representatives.
