Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that the employment of workers engaged in MGNREGA is fully secure under the newly enacted Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025. The Minister said this while chairing a national-level interaction through video conferencing with representatives of MGNREGA functionaries serving across the country. During the interaction, they expressed enthusiasm and welcomed the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025. Addressing specific concerns raised about wages and honorarium disbursements, Mr Chouhan elaborated on key enhancements within the new framework. The Minister noted that the ceiling for expenditure under the administrative head has been raised from the previous 6 percent to 9 percent. He added that this will enable State Governments to facilitate prompt and reliable payments to functionaries and will facilitate their overall service conditions, fostering a more supportive environment for rural development. Ministry of Rural Development said that over 2 lakh MGNREGA workers from over 45 thousand locations participated in the discussion.
