Uttar Pradesh govt issues nearly 18 lakh new Ayushman cards in three months

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued nearly 18 lakh new Ayushman cards in three months through special drive. The state government is conducting a special statewide campaign to issue Ayushman cards. The campaign began on November 25 last year and continued until December 25, 2025, during which more than 5.52 lakh cards were issued. Encouraged by the success of the campaign, a second phase was launched on January 15 this year, which is currently underway. 
 
During this phase, more than 17.94 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued so far. The campaign has particularly focused on issuing cards to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi helpers, and their families. 
 
CEO of SACHIS, Archana Verma, stated that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Uttar Pradesh has become the state issuing the highest number of Ayushman cards in the country. So far, around 5.64 crore Ayushman cards have been issued in the state, enabling crores of families to avail cashless treatment of up to rupees 5 lakh annually.
 
She added, “Additionally, under the Vay Vandana Yojana, aimed at providing health security to senior citizens, Ayushman cards have been issued to about 25.70 lakh elderly people aged 70 years and above.
 
She said that the government is running this special campaign across the state to connect all eligible but left-out beneficiaries with the scheme.
