Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife captured by American army and flown out of country after large scale attack

US President Donald Trump has said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, along with his wife, has been captured and flown out of the country, which came under large-scale attack early this morning. In a social media post, Mr Trump said the US has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader. He mentioned that this operation was done in conjunction with US Law Enforcement. Several large explosions were heard early this morning in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has said that deposed Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, will face criminal charges after an indictment in New York. In a social media post, Bondi said, Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.  She said the couple will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.

Venezuela has strongly criticised the Trump-led government of the United States, accusing it of carrying out what it described as extremely serious military aggression. Venezuela has declared a national emergency and denounced the US military aggression. Vice President Delcy Rodriguez demanded proof of life and the location of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino López announced a deployment of military forces across the country. The Venezula also demanded an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the U.S. attacks on the country.

Several countries across the globe, including Russia, Iran and Cuba, have criticised the US military attack on Venezuela, calling it a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry today condemned what it called a U.S. act of armed aggression against Venezuela, urging restraint and warning against further escalation. It said that the pretexts cited to justify these actions are untenable. Moscow called for dialogue and said it was ready to support diplomatic efforts.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel also condemned the attack and demanded an urgent response from the international community. Iran’s Foreign Ministry described the attack as an act of aggression and a clear breach of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law prohibiting the use of force against sovereign states.
