US President Donald Trump warns Cuba of end to Venezuelan oil and financial support

US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Havana, declaring that Cuba will no longer receive oil or money from Venezuela and suggesting that its leaders strike a deal with Washington before it is too late. President Trump stated this in a social media post today that signalled a sharp escalation in US rhetoric toward the island nation.

The ultimatum follows a series of aggressive moves and statements by the Trump administration aimed at reshaping power dynamics across the Americas. Venezuela has long been Cuba’s main oil supplier, but in recent days, Washington has tightened sanctions and seized Venezuelan oil shipments after the launch of a military operation in the South American country and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

For Cuba, the potential loss of Venezuelan oil could worsen the crisis. The US intelligence agency said Cuba’s economy is under heavy strain, with agriculture and tourism hit by blackouts, sanctions and other problems.
