Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today criticised the Opposition for not allowing the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill to be passed in Parliament.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said the Opposition’s conduct was against women’s dignity and called it an unpardonable act that, he claimed, Indian women will not forgive.
He described the incident as unfortunate for both democracy and women’s empowerment and said it reflected the opposition’s anti-women mindset. He further alleged that the INDIA bloc acted as a barrier and attempted to block initiatives taken in the interest of all sections of society. The Chief Minister said the government’s intention behind the amendment was to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies by 2029 instead of 2034.
