Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given a strong assurance of justice, security, and empowerment to the family of Dalit man Hariom Balmiki, who was lynched by a mob in Rae Bareli over a false theft rumour. Last evening, after meeting the Chief Minister in Lucknow, the deceased’s wife, Sangeeta Balmiki, said, Only Yogi Adityanath can protect the Dalits, and she is fully satisfied with the actions of the government and the police, and she is confident that justice will be delivered.
Sangeeta Balmiki, along with her father, Chhote Lal, and daughter, Ananya, came to Lucknow to meet CM Yogi. The Chief Minister listened to the family’s grief, comforted them, and assured strict action against the perpetrators under the government’s zero-tolerance policy. The Chief Minister said that the family would be given a house under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. Additionally, Sangeeta Balmiki will be given a permanent job at her workplace, and the family will be covered under all government welfare schemes.
The Chief Minister further said that in the Hariom Balmiki case, the state government will strongly represent the case in court to ensure the accused receives the harshest punishment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the accused were arrested within 24 hours of the incident. He emphasised that protecting the dignity of Dalits, the deprived, and the oppressed is the state government’s top priority. He assured that there would be no compromise on maintaining strong law and order, and every tear of the victim’s family will be taken into account, with strict action against such criminals under the zero-tolerance policy.
