Unprecedented monsoon rains trigger floods, landslides, widespread damage across Nagaland

Unprecedented monsoon rains have caused widespread destruction across Nagaland, with reports of severe flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage from multiple districts. The SDMA said it has received numerous reports of damaged homes, roads, bridges, paddy fields, and jhum cultivations.

In Dimapur, following flooding in several colonies, relief camps have been set up by the  DDMA. Various agencies are actively conducting rescue operations.

A major landslide has completely cut off the road connecting Mon to Longleng district.

Landslides have hit Mokokchung district’s Changki and Longkong villages, damaging roads and pipelines.

In Tuensang, NH-202 was fully cut off at Chare Town, stranding many passengers.

Meanwhile, in response to the flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall, the Dimapur district administration, in collaboration with the SDRF, launched full-scale rescue operations. A total of 844 individuals, including children, the elderly, the sick, and special needs individuals, had been safely relocated to the relief camps.
