Union Minister of State for Road and Transport, Harsh Malhotra, today laid the foundation stone for four flyovers and nine foot over bridges on NH-48 in Gurugram. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Malhotra said that the highway network expanded from 91 thousand kilometres in 2014 to 1.46 lakh kilometres in 2024, making it the second-largest road network globally.
He also mentioned that the pace of National Highway construction rose by 2.8 times from 12.1 kilometres per day in 2014-15 to around 34 kilometres per day in 2023-24. The MoS said that the infrastructure development is not just about building roads but laying the foundation for the transformation of India towards Viksit Bharat.
