Union Minister Scindia Inaugurates Sohra Tourism Circuit Project Under PM-DevINE Scheme

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, laid the foundation stone for the Integrated Development of the Sohra Tourism Circuit in Sohra today.

Valued at over 200 crore rupees and funded under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), the project seeks to transform Sohra into a model of sustainable tourism by strengthening infrastructure, boosting local livelihoods, and preserving its rich cultural and ecological heritage.

Built on a community-driven approach, the initiative aims to generate employment for local residents while promoting eco-friendly tourism practices. During the event, the dignitaries also visited stalls exhibiting local crafts and enterprises and interacted with entrepreneurs, artisans, and tourism stakeholders who form the backbone of Sohra’s tourism economy.
