Union Minister Kiren Rijiju alleges Congress, Communist parties spreading misinformation on FCRA in Keralam

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju alleged that the Congress and Communist parties in Keralam are spreading misinformation on FCRA, saying it is not appropriate.

He said the original major amendment to the FCRA was brought in 2010 by the Congress government, and since then several amendments have been made.

Mr Rijiju said the current amendment aims to ensure better regulation of foreign contributions and their proper utilisation. He said the bill has been brought keeping in mind national security and national interest so that the funds received from abroad are used transparently and for the intended purposes.

The Minister clarified that this amendment is not against any religion and does not target any particular organisation.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 12 noon following opposition uproar over the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026.

When the House began its proceedings at 11:00 AM, Speaker Om Birla tried to take up Question Hour, but the opposition members were on their feet demanding a rollback of the bill.

Mr Birla said that Question hour is very important as the members ask important questions.

He urged everyone to allow the Question Hour. However, the opposition members did not pay heed to the request, which led to the adjournment of the House till 12 noon.
