Union Health Minister JP Nadda has said that eternal spiritual institutions of Saiva Sithantha continue to be the light house of the philosophy.
In his address at the sixth International Conference near Chennai today, he said that the Saiva Siddhanta is not merely a philosophy but a soul which is deeply rooted in the culture of the people of Tamilnadu. He said that it nourished the philosophy through the sacred arts and temples.
The Minister said that Tamil Nadu is a land which gave Devaram and Thiruvasagam which are sung vibrantly even today echoing the ageless wisdom. He said that Saiva Philosophy and the holy hymns called the Devaram composed by Appar, Sundarar and Tirugnana sambandan preached divine energy and also are songs which melt the hearts of people. He said that the message of Saiva Siddhanta is for humanity.
Calling India as a land where Spirituality meets technology, he said that two centres of excellence namely, the Institute of Cardiac Sciences and the Trauma and emergency department were inaugurated today at SRM Medical College and Hospital.
The Conference is being held from today to the 5th of this month. It is held in association with the International Institute of Saiva Siddhanta Research of the Tirukayila Paramparai Dharmapuram Adheenam near Chennai.
More than 3000 attendees including eminent religious scholars, spiritual leaders, researchers, students and special invitees from across India and abroad. The conference aims to explore and deepen the understanding of Saiva Siddhanta, one of the most profound spiritual philosophies rooted in Tamil culture and tradition. The conference will also mark the release of 75 scholarly publications, highlighting the philosophical depth and spiritual richness of Tamil Saiva Culture.
