Union Minister Chirag Paswan has called the Centre’s decision to conduct a caste census a need of the hour. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, the Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the right decision at the right time. He accused the opposition of using the caste census as a political weapon. Mr. Paswan added that the Government makes various schemes keeping in mind the needs of different castes; therefore, the government needs to keep track of the number of various castes. The Minister further emphasised that this move of the Centre would provide the opportunity for the underprivileged to be included in the mainstream of society.
